The Skills in Demand (SID) 482 — December 2024. Three streams (Specialist $146,576+, Core Skills CSOL + $79,423, Labour Agreement), visas to 4 years, PR from every stream.
$4,015 primary, $4,015 per adult, $1,005 per child. Employers pay nomination + SAF levy ($1,200/yr small, $1,800/yr large) — the levy can't be passed to you.
It can, but it is not automatic. The main route is ENS 186, which needs your employer to nominate you after 2 years and requires you to meet the criteria (generally under 45, with some exemptions). Time with different approved sponsors can count. The Department decides every application.
Up to 180 days per episode (365 total) to find a new sponsor — and you may work elsewhere meanwhile.
Regional agreements with concessions to age (often to 55), English and salary across hundreds of occupations — including semi-skilled — with PR pathways.
